The club held a meet at the Lancashire Climbing and Caving Club Tranearth Hut at Torver. The climbers had some good sport on Dow, whilst the walkers made a pleasant round of Dow, The Old Man, and Wetherlam.

The Mid-week Walk in June was earlier in the month than usual due to the camping meet in the Pyrenees. Led by Frank Haygarth, the group of 10 set off from the square in Orton through some delightful lanes and fields for a coffee stop at Scar Side Farm. The farm cafe must be popular with people walking the Coast-To-Coast from the number who called in to dodge one of the frequent showers that day.
The trail led up and over Great Asby Scar, and down to Coppermine Lane where a stop was made to explore an old adit - right. The photo below left shows Fred Underhill, the President of Kendal Caving Club, emerging from the adit after an exploration by those members who had remembered to bring their head torches.
The return to Orton was made via the ancient settlement near Maisongill, the hamlet of Sunbiggin, and some lovely hay meadows full of orchids, yellow rattle, ragged robin - below right. The walk was completed by tea and cake at the delightful Old School Cafe in Orton.

Hugh and Angie couldn't make the club trip to the Pyrenees above, but managed a week of walking and flower hunting in the Dolomites based in Corvara in the Alta Badia. It was the prime time for flowers and Angie was very much in her element in the lovely flower meadows.
